Squill Babies at 9 Months!

For whatever reason, I have taken a picture of all four Squill kids at their 9 month appointments- all in diapers on the exam table. It wasn't on purpose with the first three. I was taking a picture of Molly and thought, "Hey! I remember doing this with the older two!" Kelsey's was definitely thought out- I couldn't leave her out!

I LOOOOVE comparing them and seeing how similar and yet how different they all are. I also love it because this is my favorite of all of the baby stages. They are so sweet and snuggly and squishy. Their little personalities just start coming out. I LOVE looking at these!

And I love looking at their measurements. The girls are all SO similar! They are all right there together in a little pack. And then there's Jay. And he's SO much bigger than them!

Height: 30 in

9 months fly by... and I'm pretty confident time isn't slowing down any time soon!

Gah, this post is ONE MONTH late! Eeeeek!

A couple of weeks ago (Feb 18 weekend to be exact!), we were at the ranch for the weekend.

It was a beautiful Saturday and we were hanging around outside playing. I had Molly on my lap and Kelsey had just woken up from a nap and I asked Anthony to grab her and change her diaper.

He did so and brought her out a few minutes later. He said, "Hey, have you noticed all those teeth Kelsey has on the top?"
To which I replied, "Teeth? She doesn't have teeth yet!"
A: "Yes she does!"
C: "No, she doesn't. She doesn't even have any on the bottom and those come in first. Trust me, babe, I've been checking the bottom for weeks now and there is NOTHING."
A: "Go see for yourself."

So I grabbed her, laid her on my lap, pulled up her top lip and there they were... FOUR TOP TEETH COMING IN AT ONCE!!!!!

Not only was I the worst mom in the world for not noticing and having Daddy find them first, I also had dealt with her suffering through this having no clue! I seriously wondered on and off for about a week if she had an ear infection- but with no fever and no major sleep issues, I couldn't put my finger on it. I figured it might be teething, but I had checked those lower gums for days and nothing was popping up.

In true Kelsey fashion, this girl is doing things on her own and in her own way. I'm just sorry I didn't have Motrin going to help her out some in the process!

Why hit one major milestone at a time when you can do four at once?!

Kelsey is 9 Months!

Good grief- when I think that 9 months is so close to a year my heart starts racing! How did we get here?!

Kelsey actually turned 9 months old a few weeks back... and I've had this post half written. But between sheer exhaustion and one million other things going on, this is the closest I could get it done!

At 9 months Kelsey is...
-Walking! Not all over and not consistently, but she will take up to about 15 steps at once! I used to think other people who said their babies walked at 9 months were lying (kind of kidding), but now that I have her, I get it!
-In size 4 diapers, 12 month clothes
-Sleeping better than ever! She's actually gone a couple nights with ZERO wake-ups to eat! Most of the time she will go 10-11 hours and wake for an early feeding (530/6ish) and then go back to sleep until 8. She's pretty consistently an 830-8ish sleeper.
-Napping is ok. I think she's wanting to go down to one nap. We tried that for a week or so and she did ok- some days she'd take a 3 hour nap and sometimes it was just 1.5 hrs. Sometimes she'd wake and I'd have to get her back to sleep and sometimes she would nap solid. Now, we are kind of going with an hour and a half morning nap and an hour or so late afternoon nap. I don't really know. We are trying to figure this one out!
-Eating all solids. Well, at least the ones she likes. She LOVES beans and pasta and strawberries and oranges. She is ok with some things. And she straight up refuses somethings which is hilarious to me!
-Has become pretty easy going. She just goes with the flow and is generally so so happy. I can't even believe I am typing this sentence knowing how tough she was at the beginning. She seems to be one of our sweetest, easiest babies now. I love her.
-nursing every 3-4 hours. She usually stretches closer to four hours. She definitely needs a solid snack between nursing sessions- yogurt, eggs, etc
-Has the cutest little demeanor. Laughs and giggles and "plays" with you. Is interested in everything. Babbles a little, but not too much- definitely takes it all in
-LOVES babies and balls. Her two favorite toys! She loves hanging onto babies and dribbling basketballs. My kind of gal!
-Getting into everything stage! Loves to dump the water bowl, play in the toilet (and put things in there), and has even gotten into the cat box (YUCK!). I have to watch her all the time for sure!
-Gets dropped off or goes to other people easily. This is a change for me and I am going to ride this train while I can!!!
-Loving bath time and all things water. This summer with the pool should be interesting!
-Has four top teeth- but nothing on the bottom! So weird!

Kelsey has seriously become the most wonderful baby. Our entire family adores her! She has been the perfect final puzzle piece to this crazy family. We love you sweet Kelsey!

Birthday Celebrations for CK

I've had this written for two weeks have forgotten to publish so many times! Oops!

This little love deserves a big birthday celebration! She is always thinking of others and it was time for everyone to focus on her!

We started her morning with pancakes (her request!), school drop off, and birthday circle at school accompanied with donut holes for everyone for snack!

Breakfast of champs!

She and one of the boys in her class share a birthday! It's fun to have a buddy up there!

The birthday (girls!) crew!

Then, for our second annual tradition... lunch at the American Girl store! She LOVED it last year, and this year was no different! She got a new doll to bring and graciously "gave" Molly one of her older ones. My mom came with us and we shopped, ate, and giggled like crazy! This year Molly came along- she was finally old enough. She had a BLAST! Love seeing the joy of kids- there is just nothing like it!

The rest of the day was spent playing, opening a few presents, running around with some of her besties outside, and heading to dinner at Ninfas (her choice!). Anthony and my mom met us at dinner and all that little girl wanted was beans and rice from Ninfas for dinner and for them to sing happy birthday to her in the restaurant! Her wishes were granted and she had the BEST time!

She gives the BEST reactions opening presents!!

We got home and had more cupcakes at home (at least this child is ok to consume 1 jillion calories!) and opened her family presents. Her big gift from us was a hit- her swimmable mermaid tail!!!

I love them singing to her!

One of my favorite pictures- so much genuine happiness!

It was a great birthday for our precious girl. I have no doubt she felt as special as she really is!!

And then the party day came...

Trying to come up with the "perfect" party is tough. Then, it hits you that your kid loves something, so you just do what they love. It's not fancy, it's not pinteresty- but it's what makes them happy... so that's the route we went!

Gymnastics birthday party it is!

We had it at this great gym near us (the same one I had birthday parties at and the same one she had her party at 3 years ago!). It was perfect and they always do a great job. This year it was all girls (plus Jay!). She has some amazing little girlfriends- and some that she's been around since birth and some that she's only known for a few months. I love the span of these friendships!

That time you order a RAPUNZEL cake only to get this...
Ummm, ok?

This girl had the best time over her birthday (week!). We were so happy to celebrate her. And she CRASHED from all the fun!
