Cowboys and Indians!

When I asked Jay what he wanted to be for Halloween, I never got the same answer twice (imagine that- a toddler who is indecisive!).

I was thinking of partner costumes for Jay and Charley but just never came up with anything I loved.

So about a month ago we were at Target, and I turned down the costume aisle to find some inspiration.

And hanging on the wall was a Jay-sized horse! Jay just HAD to have it! He snuggled it the entire Target trip. Knowing that he was going to change his mind, I chuckled at the thought of him in this costume but kept the tags on thinking we would definitely return it.

Fast forward about a month and the kid still LOVES it. Any time someone asks him what he's going to be for Halloween, he yells, "A horsey!" We'll, he's not exactly a horse- but a cowboy RIDING a horse.

Folks, I give you Jay's costume for Halloween 2K12....

How hysterical is that?!?

I was so worried he would hate it once we put it on, but dude is OWNING it!

Then I had to think of the perfect compliment to a cowboy! A baby horse? A cow that got roped by the cowboy? No, no. These won't do! And it hit me- a sweet little Indian to go with the cowboy!

I introduce you to SwiftKnees- Indian Princess :)

Not gonna lie, I am totally digging their costumes this year!!!!

Oh, and Mom and Dad weren't too shabby. How about some replacement refs- they were blind weren't they?!?

Happy Halloween Y'all!!! Xoxo

Viva Mexico!

We just got back from a weeklong trip to Mexico (aka Paradise) with our extended family!

We had a blast with our family of four, Anthony's parents, and his sister and our brother-in-law, Andrea and Mike!

We did a lot of playing in the pool, digging in the sand, going down the slide, and eating Mexican food!

While the company, scenery, and fun to be had was perfect, I would be lying if I said we weren't beyond exhausted! Taking a crawler and toddler on vacation for a week is TOUGH! Think different bedtime routines, sharing a room, eating at restaurants the majority of the time, and limited space/toys- needless to say we were ready to get back home!

We had FUN FUN FUN though... And without further ado, here are some pictures to prove it!

Have I mentioned how much I love my kids?! :)

Waiting for takeoff- the calm before the storm :)

Waiting for the shuttle...

Charley's nap spot every day around 11 :)

The kids club had bunnies that were out all day.
Charley was slightly obsessed.

Excuse me. Please give me back my baby. Thank you.

Wednesday Confessions

Confessions Mexican Vacation Style!

While on vacation, the four of us stay in one room. Anthony and me in the queen bed, Charley in the crib, and Jay on the pullout couch/bed. If Charley fusses in the middle of the night, I try to get to her as quickly as possible so she won't wake Jay up. Since I can't rock her back to sleep without a rocking chair in the room, I just put her in bed with us. Well, three of us in the bed is a tight squeeze. So as soon as Jay makes the slightest peep, I tell Anthony to go lay next to him to "keep him asleep." In reality, I kick him out of the bed so I can have a little more room. Bad wife.

I am not in bikini shape- at all. So I didn't pack one for our trip to Mexico. We got there, and just about every single other woman was wearing one- and I can say with complete confidence that I should NOT have felt bad about choosing to wear a bikini. I just wonder if these people don't look in the mirror, or if they just don't care. Either way, I should probably have more of that in me.

Did I mention that it was a dream come true to eat Mexican food for 7 straight days (day and night)?!? This did not help my "not in bikini shape body" though.

We watched the last debate with two people who have very opposite views than us. All four of us were trying to stay quiet and respectful of the others, but that is no fun and I don't want to do that again! It's hard for me to bite my tongue!!

I love having cute kids with me all the time. This takes every ounce of attention away from me and allows me to look as awful as I want. Didn't shower in two days after being in the beach water? Who cares! At least Charley has a cute swimsuit and coordinating bow!

I am having serious issues/withdrawals from not being able to use my phone 24/7 (or at least whenever I want!). Who knew life was so hard without the Internet and texting?

Jay threw a toy over the rail at dinner (on a second floor patio overlooking the marina) the other night. I told him we couldn't go get it and that it was gone. His hero daddy found a way to get down there and get the toy back. As we gave it back we explained he couldn't throw it down there again, blah blah blah. Someone else told him if he threw it down there that bad things would eat it up. That's not my normal approach with him, but I just let it slide. Not five minutes later the BIGGEST crocodile I have ever seen in person was RIGHT down under us just sitting on the edge of the water. Boom proved me wrong about bad things eating toys and THANKYOUGOD it didn't gobble Anthony up!!!!!!!!! Eek...

When you travel you eat a lot of meals out. When you have two kids that are young, you don't normally eat a lot of long leisurely meals out. Mexican time at a restaurant is different than normal for us. They take their time. My two kids don't sit for long. Jay has played iPad at every meal time. And we have seriously brought every toy and snack we could to each meal for Charley. Girl hates to sit in her highchair. Well, halfway through the trip I was tired of wrestling and/or getting up to take her out mid-meal. So I plopped her on the filthy Mexican restaurant floor and let her dig around in the diaper bag. Bought me a meal at least (and probably eighty diseases).

One of my favorite meals in Mexico was this hole in the wall pizza place. Delicious!

My Turn!

Charley has been relegated to the back of the tub during bath time... I guess that's what happens when you have a big brother and you can't talk yet....

The other day she was super congested and woke up after a 12 minute nap. Yes, that's right. 12. I felt awful for her because she was coughing and tired, so I put her in the steamy bathroom to see if we could clear her up a bit.

Well, girlfriend got her first taste of the "captain's seat" since big brother was napping! I'm not sure she'll ever go back to the old ways....

I actually have the CUTEST video of her exploring putting her head under the spout, but there are parts where you can see the faintest glimpse of her and I'm afraid of those crazy nuts out there who enjoy that dirtiness. But take my word for it, it's CUTE. :)

Austin County Fair

I LOOOOVE this weekend of the year! If you have never been to Bellville, TX for the Austin County Fair, I highly suggest you go! It's SUCH a fun time and Bellville has some of the NICEST people in the world!

This past weekend, we visited for my TENTH time!!!!!!!!!

I started going back as a freshman in college. I had a wonderful professor in one of my education classes that asked me to tag along to be a judge for their pageant. I LOVE me a good pageant, so I said yes!

The following year one of my best friends invited us to go with her (she was from Bellville), and it became a tradition every year after that!

The times in college and post college as single gals were FUN FUN FUN. We have way too many stories to tell!

As we got older, we started bringing our boyfriends/fiances/husbands, which was also a great time (just different!).

A year or two after that, I brought my nephew to show him a good time.

And this year, I happily brought my two babies!!!!!

We met up with my friend (back in Bellville with HER husband and baby) and another one of our college friends! We laughed how it had come full circle to us being back with our kids! Who would have thought?!

While this past weekend was definitely different than it was years ago, it will always hold a special place in my heart with special memories- made better by good friends! Until next year ACF....

My sweet baby girl and me at the fair!

We loved having Auntie Michelle with us!

Love this one!

He LOVES her!

HAHAHA

If you know Jay, you can only imagine his excitement!

YES!

Not enough hands....

Redneck frito pie (made with brisket!) and roasted corn!
Yes, she's the bride and she gets to eat like this because she's so skinny!

The before...

Jill and me and our babies!!! Charley LOVED Baby Beck!

There, just regular smiles

Sisters!

And I tried to find pictures of the past fairs, and I only came up with two. I'm sure I could find more, but I'm lazy and have limited time! :)
