A Little Slice of Heaven

Last week we gave Jay a little glimpse into what his Heaven might look like (ok, not really- and I'm not getting into the debate on what Heaven is really like- it's a figure of speech people!).

We took him to the circus!

Look, I was a little hesitant at first. Taking an almost 6 month old and an almost 2 year old without the husband is tough. The only redeeming quality is that there would be lots of grown ups there to help- and I could always leave early if it was a bust!

So we loaded up the car- Jay, Charley, cousin Jake (11 years old and a big help!), and me. My mom and Michelle followed. We parked insanely close- but still really far for a little guy's legs. We got there over an hour early which was on purpose so that we could see the Animal Open House. And it did NOT disappoint!

Elephants, horses, and tigers up close?! Jay was running from elphies to horsies to lions (he canNOT figure out that they are tigers and not lions!!!) and back to elphies. He was seriously so happy. I almost teared up several times because of his pure enjoyment. Nothing makes you happier in the world than seeing your child truly happy.

These next two might be some of my favorite pictures of all time. The pure innocence and sweetness of this little boy never ceases to amaze me.... He was showing his elphy to the big elphy. Be still my heart.

One of Jay's favorite parts was watching the elephants poop. He would get his deep voice and say, "Big elphy. Big poop." Such a boy. Ugh.

He also loved watching them clean the elephants off before the show with a leaf blower and then put their headwear on. This was one focused little boy!

Once we got to our seats and the show started, he was just as engaged! I was so excited! Everyone did a great job of explaining what was going on and he kept looking at the big curtain and saying, "Elphies comin' next Momma!" He was so sweet!

Auntie Michelle feeing Charley- while she watches the pre-show! Ha!

Just clownin' around before the show.
Terrible pun. I know.

It was loud for little ears! :)

This is what ended up happening with the little one...
I love the lines on her face :)

And we only made it to two chunks of the show after intermission. Jay started falling asleep on JJ's lap! So I loaded up both kids by myself and headed out. That was TOUGH.

We made it to the car in one piece and before we got out of the parking lot, I turned around to this...

Definitely a SUCCESS! And he is STILL talking about... What a wonderful experience! :)

Go!

Charley took three legit crawls last night and four today.

WE. ARE. IN. TROUBLE.

Here are a couple pics... Video to come soon...

And just to put it in perspective- she is about 2-3 weeks AHEAD of her brother in this department! Here are some pics of him learning how to crawl! :)

Life Recently in iPhone Pics!

What in the WORLD did people do before iPhones?!?

Showing some auntie love!

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it- this swimsuit shows WAY too much cleavage!

Much better! Everyone's happier!
PS- Look at her bedhead! Ha!

This Texas girl couldn't be more in love with this picture!

Ball pit was a hit!

First time in Bible Class! Look at that smirk!

Apparently the straps were WAY TOO loose for this car ride!
Look at the death look! Ouch!

Fine... I'll just eat the bag.

First time in a highchair!
Thanks Ninfas!

Um, I love her.

Jay desperately wanted to feed his baby sister.

Dad- won't YOU help me?!

And then Jay broke free of my help- you can imagine how clean this was....
PS- Look at Ella creeping in the back...
She LOVES baby food... Weird cat.

Best buds... Love sweet Wyatt R!

Daddy's boots... Most fun ever!

Mommy's sunglasses and Charley's pink pappy...
I think we need to hang with Daddy more.
PS- We were parked, I promise!

Jay asking, "Is this heaven?"
Clearly, he did not say that.

I thought this was just the sweetest ever.
Then I realized they were probably plotting against me.

Because it's just too cold in Houston in July!

OT much?

I showed Jay these the other day. I asked, "Hey, what are these?"
He replied, "GaGa, Mommy, Baby!"
This boy needs guy time. STAT!

Wednesday Confessional

The Second Edition of Wednesday Confessional...

I have never tried to teach Jay letters. I read that some of my friend's kids know a lot of letters. I don't really care to teach Jay his letters right now. Is that bad? Especially considering I'm a former teacher...

Sometimes (most days) I don't make the bed until ten minutes before Anthony gets home. I don't care about a made bed. He LOVES a made bed. If he gets home early, then oops!

When I go to Target to get diapers, baby food, etc... I ALWAYS come home with an item (or two or three) of clothing for me. Always.

Jay likes Charley to sit on the couch with him in the mornings while he watches YouTube videos on the iPad. She fell off yesterday (onto the slate floor) and has a little black eye. Ugh. Mom of the Year.

If both kids nap at the same time during the day, I turn my phone off. The silence around the house is the most amazing sound ever.

I haven't worked out this week yet. I complain that I want to lose weight, but then I don't work out. Vicious cycle I tell you.

Once a week I make a LAME dinner. Frozen fish, frozen vegetable, and some sort of pre-made-heat-it-up brown rice/quinoa mix. It's probably the healthiest meal we have, but some days I just don't feel like cooking. That's my last resort meal. And it's Jay's MOST favorite thing- that kid can take down 2-3 fish filets.

I wear workout clothes just about every day. I rarely work out.

I just got out of the shower. It has been over 48 hours since my last shower. Gross. Seriously gross. I tried not to shower and dressed in workout clothes in hopes that would help me go to the gym. Nope.

I forgot about planning Jay's second birthday party until recently. I saw that a friend posted on facebook about her little boys turning 2 in less than a month and how she was excited to celebrate them at their party. Then I realized I had done nothing. Whoops!

Sometimes if I have to go get Charley in the middle of the night, I make a lot of noise to "accidentally" wake Anthony up. It gives me a teeny bit of pleasure.

Until next time....  :)

Reading

Jay loves to read. And I seriously LOVE that about him.

The other day a guy that works with Anthony sent some books that his kids had outgrown... Jay was in Heaven!!!

And we went to TJ Maxx the other day to get some things. As I was looking at clothes, this is what I found...
Every time we would go to a new section, he would pick up his book and plop back down once we got there.

I love this little boy...

Life Lately

I'm not sure how summer is halfway over, or what we have done, but somehow it has flown by and we have been BUSY!

Days are flying by at a rapid rate, and I've looked down and noticed I have a 5 1/2 month old and a 23 month old. What? How did my babies get so big? Where has the time gone? What the heck have we been doing?!

Yesterday Charley got up on her hands and knees. Are you kidding?! By the evening she was rocking back and forth on them. Um, hold up. She can definitely scootch her way forward to grab a toy she wants, but this whole up on hands and knees thing is freaking me out! She is WAY too young for that! Wasn't she just born last week?

Didn't really want to post the nakedy picture- but it shows much better how she's off the floor.
Thank you creepos for making me blur it.

Jay's little imagination is running wild. A few days ago he said, "Somethin' in my ear, Momma." I have noticed he has said this recently since his molars have started coming in. I answered, "Oh really buddy? I'm sorry. What do you think is in your ear?" His response, "Squitoes. Squitoes in my ear." Ha. Those darn mosquitoes are EVERYwhere!

He also likes to take his little toy cow and make a tooting noise and say, "Cow tootin' momma." All boy that one. And it doesn't help that his daddy thinks it hysterical. Sheesh...

Charley has also started to calm down in the car a bit. I would say the screaming during car rides has gone down to about 50% of the time. I call that a win! I've actually been able to set her and Jay in their carseats, go get what I need from inside, load the car, and pack up without a major fuss. Well, I did this yesterday, and I came out to find this... She was passed out. Poor baby. Talk about flexibility!

And speaking of carseats, I tried to type carseat into my phone in a text message. It auto-corrected me to cars eat. Not what I needed. So I deleted and tried to type it again. It auto-corrected to carstache! Carstache?!? It recognizes carstache but not carseat?! Wild. In case you don't know what a carstache is, click here. Pure goodness if you ask me.

My best friend, Courtney and I taught VBS together this week. We taught the four year olds (her oldest son's age). Man, let me tell you- that wears you out! I am out of practice for sure! By the third night I dropped like a fly once I got home and in bed. But by the last night I was definitely in my teaching rhythm again. It was so fun to get back into a classroom with kids. On the second night one little boy walked up and gave me the biggest hug- I forgot how much I love that feeling. Am I getting back into teaching anytime soon you might ask? Not even close. I love doing it once in a while, but I wouldn't trade time with my babies for ANYthing.

My cousin, Kelli, and her daughter, Zoey, were in town for almost a month! They live in Germany and Kelli's husband, Mark is in the Army. He is deployed right now to Afghanistan and flies Apache helicopters. We LOOOOVED having them in town! They left Wednesday and we were SO sad to see them go... We have tried to convince them to just move here while Mark is gone...

One of Jay's favorite new sayings is "Oh MY gosh." It's seriously one of the funniest things I've ever heard! The inflection in his voice is all wrong- and it makes it that much cuter!

We FINALLY have an off weekend- and I am thrilled! Little errands and appointments here and there- but nothing major and nowhere major to go! I am really looking forward to some downtime with my sweet little family...

Obession

I might have a slight obsession with my kids' butts... I remember before I had kids of my own hearing moms tell me how they were so in love with their kid's naked booties and how they didn't think there was anything much cuter in the world- blah blah blah. I mean, little kids and their booties are cute, but I didn't get the whole OBSESSED thing... Until I had my own little booties to look at.

Now I'm seriously obsessed.

You are welcome.
