Visiting Daddy!

Jay and I went to visit Daddy at his office for the first time today!

Jay was SUPER! I'm sure it had something to do with all the pretty girls paying attention to him! He LOVED looking at the beautiful faces and being the center of attention!

He also met all the guys and is ready to start cold calling any day now!  :)

With some of the girls

Outside the office!

We went to lunch at Jenni's Noodle House (yum!) and then passed out on the way home!

We love our little outings but it's hard work!  :)

What a Weekend!

It's amazing how much our weekends have changed now that we have a baby!

Friday started out with Anthony having surgery on his ear! He has struggled with a hole in his ear drum for 10+ years. He can't swim or submerge it in water or he gets a SERIOUS infection. Since we met our deductible with having a baby, we decided to try to get it fixed so Anthony could swim with said baby one day! The surgery was only about 20 minutes, and Jay and I stayed at the hospital from about 8-12 waiting for Daddy! The nurses LOVED Jay, and were SOOO sweet to us the entire time! They let me stay in Anthony's private pre-op room to nurse (with a recliner and tv!), and then they stored the stroller for me and even held him and gave me a break! ha! Meanwhile, Anthony's surgery went well, but we aren't sure if it's going to work... :/

Friday also brought on Jay's first cold- boo! This means the poor boy woke up every two hours Friday night- and it also means a TIRED, exhausted momma!

Saturday we went to watch Josh's soccer game- it was precious! Josh is a great little soccer player, and it was fun to see Jill and Jake, too! We went and voted and Jay had his first experience voting for all the right people! heehee

We did some stuff around the house and then went to my parents' house to hang out. We got to visit with Jill and Josh this time and had fun just hanging out.

Sunday we went to church after a MAJOR poop explosion all over Daddy. :)    I think I say it all the time, but we LOVE our church family!

Sunday afternoon we hung out at my parents' again. Jay actually fell asleep in my parents' bed!!! I am sure you don't realize how huge this is, but he only sleeps being held or in a semi-upright position, so the fact that he slept over an hour in their bed was AMAZING!!!!!! We even got pictures to document the occasion! hahah

Sleeping like a big boy!

He even changed positions and settled himself!

We then watched some football (seriously, he LOVES watching football!) and played around. He gave mommy lots of good kisses, too!

Watching Football

 Kisses for Mommy!
Ignore my smushed nose! :)

Anthony's parents came in town tonight and will be here for a few days to visit Jay! We're glad to have them here!

It's hysterical how much our "Sunday Fundays" have changed! We love every second of them and wouldn't change it for a second, though!!!  :)

2 Months Old!

Our baby boy is 2 months old! Where the heck did the time go?? I cannot even begin to explain what a blessing Jay has been and how much we love him! I know it's so cliche and I say it often, but I love this little boy more than I could have ever imagined. He is absolutely perfect in every way and such a little angel from above.
Daddy and Jay at the Park
We had his two month doctor's appointment and it went great! We have a growing boy! He is 24.5 inches long (92nd percentile) and 12 lbs 5 oz (66th percentile)! If you remember (probably not because you aren't his mom or dad!), he was 20 inches and 7 lbs at birth- so he is definitely growing.

He got his shots (three!) and it was pretty awful! He turned crazy red and screamed- I totally teared up! But he didn't cry for a long time... just a little and I picked him up and comforted him and whined some but then fell asleep! Poor baby! He also had an oral vaccine which he liked (shocker- he loves to eat!), and we were out of there! The nurse did a FANTASTIC job of giving the shots quickly. It was almost like three at once she was so fast. This made it better that it wasn't a long drawn out process where he cried three separate times! When we got home, however, it was a different story. This poor boy was MISERABLE! He refused to eat and screamed for almost an hour straight. I gave him some Tylenol after about thirty minutes and he fell asleep after about thirty more. Poor little guy. :(

Ok, so here is the obligatory list of 2 month things....
-The past few days he has been sleeping in 5 1/2 hour plus stretches (yay!!!). He has eliminated the 2:00 feeding which makes mommy SOOO happy! And the other night he only woke up ONCE! WOOHOO!
-He smiles like it's going out of style! He has been doing this since about 5 weeks old. They started and he did about one a day. Now he smiles pretty much any time he is awake! And it's a full body smile- I LOOOOVE it!
-He also smiles while nursing. He will pull off, look at me, and flash the biggest grin ever. It is quite possibly my very favorite thing I have ever seen. Melts my heart every time!
-He wants to crawl and roll over and tries his hardest to do so! He has this arms down, push your legs and move forward thing going on. It's so cute.
-He actually likes tummy time!
-He has just started sleeping in his crib at night (still in the bouncy seat!)
-He just started taking at least one nap a day in his swing (yay for free hands!)
-He eats about every 2 1/2 hours- with awake time and sleep time between (though not necessarily in that order)
-He still loves to sleep snuggled on your chest- another favorite of mine!
-He actually will sit in his car seat at a restaurant for a LITTLE bit and hang out
-He decided he doesn't like walks that much- so poor Tex only gets small walks these days!
-He LOVES bath time!
-He is cooing a lot more! He has just started with the vowels, but he OFTEN does the ahhhh sound. I love hearing his voice- music to my ears!

I think that's it. We just love our little guy and can't even remember our lives without him (ok, well, maybe we can a little, but we wouldn't wish for that old life!). He is such a joy and our little blessing.

I am SO BEYOND thankful that I get to stay home with him. I love love love being with him all day, going on little "playdates" with friends, and hanging out with Jennifer and Jill and my mom. I am so appreciative of Anthony's hard work so that this can happen.

Happy 2 month birthday, buddy! We love you!!!

Smiling boy!!

I couldn't resist-
Sweet little buttcrack!

S-Lake!

So this past weekend we took our first roadtrip with the little dude! We headed to Southlake for Anthony's 10 year reunion. His grandmother and two aunts also decided to come in from Iowa to meet Jay for the first time- it was an eventful and SUPER fun weekend!

The drive on Friday was awesome! We fed twice during the trip and he slept for the other three hours- sweet! Friday night Jay got to meet his Great Grandma Peggy, Great Aunt Mary, and Great Aunt Susan for the first time. He also got to spend some quality time with his grandparents and Aunt Andrea and Uncle Mike! Phew- a lot for such a little guy! He did great through it all!

Meeting the great aunts and great grandma for the first time!

Before Night 1- Family Pic!
We headed to David's to meet up with all of Anthony's old high school friends. It was so great to see everyone and their sweet spouses! Anthony has some awesome friends and I just love all of the wives!

As everyone headed to the bar, I dashed home to feed the little man. He did great- went right back to sleep- and I went and met everyone out. We stayed for a while and I met some people from Ant's high school that I heard about but never met. We left at about 1:30 and headed home. We were very proud of ourselves for staying out so late!! :)

We got home and Jay continued to sleep well. However, it had already been 2 hours since his last feeding, so I knew we didn't have much longer until it was time to wake up and feed him again. He woke up and wanted to eat, went right back to sleep for another two hours, then woke up again for good around 7. Yay. This means mom got 3 1/2 hours of sleep that night. YIKES.

Saturday was a full day! Jay met my cousin Kelli for the first time. Kelli and her husband Mark were in from North Carolina and she and my aunt and uncle were in town for the A&M/Arkansas game. Jay was fussy, but Kelli did great and even got him to sleep! After a feeding we tried some family pictures which he was NOT a fan of (I am remembering the newborn pics- apparently he will NOT be a model). After screaming he ate again and was asleep just in time to meet David and Natalie and Robert. He was GREAT with them!! :)

Meeting Kelli for the first time!

And David and Natalie!

We headed to a little burger place to meet Ant's friends and watch the game. YUCK. The game was terrible. I fed Jay in the car during part of it and Andrea and I decided to head back home after the first half .

I tried to nap while Ant's aunts (haha- I like that) watched Jay, but when you hear your baby squawk on someone else's time you feel bad for them. 10 minute nap- woohoo! As I was getting ready, Anthony's parents headed to a Carrie Underwood concert they had tickets for. So that meant, Aunt Susan, Aunt Mary, Grandma Peggy, and Andrea and Mike were in charge. I tried to give them hints for taking care of him without sounding like a crazy mom- clearly they had done this before and Jay would be fine! Silly first time mommy!

The Magic Touch!

Anthony and I headed to the reunion and left Jay in good hands. He did FANTASTIC for them- getting his second best night of sleep ever- 5 1/2 hours! Woohoo!

We had a good time talking to old friends and meeting new ones, but it's hard to answer the same three questions over and over again- "Where do you live?" "What do you do?" "Do you have kids?"... so we left after feeling COMPLETELY exhausted from the night before and called it a night early. Apparently there were some pretty fun 10 year reunion stories after we left- oh well, that's what happens when you have kids! :)

At the reunion

With Stacy- due with Jay's other BFF Wyatt in November!

Anthony and Jake- Stacy's husband and Wyatt's daddy-to-be

Sunday we had breakfast with the family, went on a SHORT walk (due to an explosive diaper), and headed home. The drive home- not so great. He screamed unless he was being held AND fed- fun times in the car!

Our short walk

Aunt Andrea and Uncle Mike
We had a GREAT time seeing friends- we truly miss Anthony's buddies and their wives- and Anthony's family! It was a super fun, and SUPER exhausting, weekend. I remember why most people can't go out with children- YIKES!  :)

Welcome Home Wyatt!

My best friend Courtney had her second son (and Jay's future BFF) on October 2! Unfortunately, Wyatt was born at 35 weeks and 5 days, so that meant he had to spend some time in the NICU. This little boy proved to be quite the fighter- he worked his way through countless tubes, oxygen, and even a blood transfusion.

Courtney, Justin, and Jack welcomed sweet Wyatt home tonight! I am so excited for their new family of four to be together for the first time at home!

Welcome home Wyatt Conway Robertson! We love you!!!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

I have entered a new club- it's the "going to the local pumpkin patch and taking lots of pictures of your kid" club!

Today the Fountains were in town, so we used this as an opportunity to take pictures of all the grandkids in the MDUMC pumpkin patch! Of course, trying to coordinate a 9 year old, 6 year old, 4 year old, 2 year old, and 6 week old smiling is IMPOSSIBLE...

Here are some of the best!

All the grandkids!
This was the best of the group! Ha!

Mommy and Jay

Hyland kids- I LOOOVE this one!

Grandeb and Cinco- her newest (and fifth!) grandbaby!

And the oldest grandbaby- can't believe he's 9!!

Kiki and Owen- so pretty!

The Hylands! So cute!

Rambling...

I actually have nothing of importance to write about, but Daddy has Jay right now and I felt the need to blog...

One of the things I did want to mention was how I haven't stopped to really think about how great it is to NOT have some of the yucky 3rd trimester pregnancy issues... Like the fact that I don't have to pee every six seconds. I think as soon as you birth a child you forget some of the things you didn't like about pregnancy- but I am SO grateful that I don't have to run to the bathroom every few minutes. This is a GREAT feeling! I also love that my foot doesn't hurt anymore! It started to hurt back in May due to a previous injury. The extra weight I was carrying REALLY hurt it- and obviously there weren't any medicines I could take! All of a sudden you drop 20 pounds and it stops hurting! Amazing! I also love that I don't waddle anymore and I'm not generally uncomfortable... How great!

Another rambling of today is how I have NOTHING to blog about other than my kid! I mean, this IS my life now. I have no work to blog about, and any time I see friends it's usually to meet Jay, so it still has to do with my kid. I am not complaining, just apologizing to my faithful blogging followers (haha) that I have nothing interesting to say... I will start thinking of some things, I promise.

And finally, we have Anthony's high school reunion this weekend. I am excited to see his friends and their wives, but I'm really not looking forward to a 4 1/2 hour car ride with a seven week old that hates his carseat. WOOHOO! Plus, trying to find something to wear for a seven week post partum body is not going to be fun... Boo.

Now I will leave you with a picture....
This is Jay's new favorite (and only!) way to fall asleep. He is SOOOOO snuggly and I love this more than anything in the world. I hope he never wants to stop doing this (ok, I know he will soon and honestly, being 17 and doing this would be a little awkward- though I would still do it if he wanted to!)...

Happy Monday!

October?!?

Where in the world did September go?!?
