Diapers and Wipes and Diapers, OH MY!

I just read something in a book that says we will go through about 600 diapers the first six weeks of our little man's life. YIKES.

To help ease that pain, the parents at our wonderful school did something pretty amazing- they gave me a diaper/wipes shower!

This year at RCE there are 5 teachers who either just had a kid this year or will have one by the beginning of next year! The moms at Rummel Creek got together and sent home flyers for a diaper shower for ALL of us! Parents across grade levels sent in wipes and diapers for us. We got them on Friday! Here are some pics of the generosity of our kids and parents!  :)

I am so lucky! And do you notice- only one set of BLUE balloons?!?!  :)

Happy Birthday EllaPhant!

Just wanted to wish a Happy First Birthday to our sweet kitty Ella! I can't believe she is already a year old! I can't imagine our little family without her. She is SUCH a good kitty- always lovey and snuggly, follows you around like a puppy, holds her own against her giant big brother, lets you know how much she loves you, and drinks from the toilet just like her brother! She has made our little family complete (for now!) and I know she will be such a good big sister to her new baby come August!

Picking out our sweet girl!
How could we resist such a lovey little thing?!

First time home!

Happy Little Family!

Loving on the brother!

Sweet girl sleeping

This is STILL her favorite place to sleep- almost every night!

Love this one!

Sleeping with her dad on the couch...
Anthony will kill me for posting this one  :)

Such a funny sleeper!

This picture makes me laugh EVERY time!
Santa and his little Reindeer! They are NOT happy!

Watching TV with the big brother.

Our "holy" girl- loves to sleep on the Bible! :)

I've Got Male...

... and this male has a LOT of energy!

I seriously don't think he's stopped kicking me or moving for the past three days! Wednesday was by far his most active day- he didn't stop at all!!

I LOOOOVE that I get to feel him move around so much- I love being aware of him all the time now- and I LOVE this precious new connection with him!

However, it's getting a LITTLE bit harder to sleep (or stay asleep) when it feels like popcorn popping in my stomach all the time! Honestly, though, I wouldn't change it for the WORLD! I LOOOVE this little feeling and I love that I'm getting to know his little "personality" now!

That's it for today- it's a rainy, yucky Friday at school- but at least it's FRIDAY!  :)

My popcorn and I are going to get back to the kids!

Belated Easter Pics!

So I feel terrible that I have not posted about our Easter weekend yet. It wasn't that I didn't love it, it's just that there were some big pregnancy milestones between then and now and I posted those first! I know you all have been DYING to see pictures of our Easter (insert heavy sarcasm), so here you go!!!

We spent Easter in Southlake with Anthony's family. It was so good to go up early on a Friday and spend the whole weekend there. It's a 4 1/2 hour drive, so our weekends are usually cut short due to travel time. Thank goodness we both had Friday off and could leave earlier! We met Andy and Brenda in Dallas Friday night at Andrea and Mike's for dinner at Taverna (yum!). Saturday we made our FIRST venture INTO Babies R Us since I have been pregnant. This was the first time I could walk in and not turn right back around due to EXTREME anxiety! That store is HUGE and overwhelming and freaked me out every time I tried before. This time we went in and looked around- SOME. No purchases or added registry items were made, but I took this milestone as a HUGE step! Go me!

Satuday night we had dinner in Trophy Club at some cute little Italian place. Sunday was Easter and the Easter bunny brought lots of goodies for us and Baby S! We went to church down the road and had a nice lunch together before we headed back.

Oh, did I forget to mention that Anthony's mom sent us home with about 5 crates of toys?!? It was so fun going through all of Anthony's old toys- and it brought back lots of FUN memories from growing up (think old school Transformers, Masters of the Universe- oh yeah!)... Now the crates are sitting in one of our extra rooms until we have some place to put them!

It was a super fun weekend and we had a great time with Ant's family! I'll be glad to see them even more often when Baby S gets here!  :)

Cup O' Bugs

Ok, so those who know me well know that I HAAAAATE bugs- of ANY kind. The only ones I will touch without screaming are doodlebugs or butterflies... Seriously, everything else makes me scream!

So you can imagine my excitement when we made Ladybug Habitats today!

We got small clear cups, dirt, raisins, wet cotton balls, panty hose, and a rubber band. We also had a cup FULL of ladybugs (talking like hundreds!). I did not know this, but if you put ladybugs in the fridge, they hibernate and go to sleep. Here is the cup o' bugs on top of the fridge.

To make these, we assembled everything before, then took the cup o' sleeping bugs out of the fridge. Well, once they are warm, they wake up almost IMMEDIATELY! So, I would pop the lid off then the bugs would start CRAWLING/FLYING! ACK! The kids loved this of course and would just scoop 'em up and let them crawl all over them then stick them in their cup. We could only do about four kids at a time because then they would REALLY start crawling!

This was the WORST experiment EVER! VOOOOOMIT! I think I screamed six times and the kids thought it was hysterical! UGH!

Here is the finished project!

It's probably a good thing I'm retiring after this year- I don't think I could handle this experiment again! Blech!

Big news from the weekend- Anthony felt Little Dude kick!!!!!!!!!

I actually had not felt him KICK at all- I had only felt him move around and change positions (and stretch out on my bladder!!).

Saturday night we were laying in bed (or is it lying? My 8th grade grammar teacher would KILL ME!), and of course I had my hand on my belly. I felt a little pop by my belly button, and another one a couple minutes later! I was so excited that he was kicking! I told Anthony to put his hand there, and right on cue, he kicked again! That one was the hardest one I felt and Anthony definitely felt him!!! I think he knew Daddy was trying to feel so he wanted to make sure he didn't disappoint! :)

He did it on and off for a while and it was SO great! I love that little feeling! It's completely different than when he is just squirming around in there! It definitely feels like he is thumping my tummy from the inside! Very cool!

On another note we had another great weekend! Dinner with Jake and Stacy Friday night at Pronto's- then a trip to Marble Slab! Yum! On that note, have you ever heard the theory that if you are carrying a boy you're nose spreads? Someone told me my nose spread and I almost vomited! Is that true?!? ACK! Anthony and my mom SWORE to me that my nose had not spread- but who tells someone that?!? However, if you feel comfortable, please tell me if my nose has spread- I would really like to know the truth!

Saturday we celebrated my cousin and his wife's sweet little boy, Jonah's first birthday! It was great to see my Dad's side of the fam and fun to celebrate with that PRECIOUS little boy! Amber did an excellent job with his birthday- she is SUCH a great mom!

Then we headed to look at more cribs- I know Anthony and my Dad were THRILLED! :)  Finally, we topped off the day with a crawfish boil. It was so fun- outside in the beautiful weather, dogs, kids, food... it was a great time!

I will now leave you with a picture that a lot of have been requesting... my 20 week bump!  :)   It's GROWING!

Halfway There!

I honestly cannot believe today marks the halfway point of my pregnancy! Time has just flown by!

I know I say the same thing each time, but this has just been about the most fun thing EVER. I LOVE being pregnant (yes, I know I'll be singing a different tune when I'm 9 months along!). I love feeling this little boy move around, I love watching my belly grow each week to make more room for him, and I love knowing that Anthony and I (with a LOT of help from up above) created such a sweet little thing together.

We are getting close to a name for him, but it's SUCH a huge decision that I want to make sure we are 100% sure before we choose something that will be with him for the rest of his life! I am practicing calling him the name we like for about a week or so to see if I really like it! It's a big decision!!

With the time flying by it's also kind of FREAKING ME OUT that I only have so much time left to get everything done for him! We haven't picked out a crib, bedding, or ANYTHING! I have such a specific idea of what I want that it's getting a little hard to find it- but I know it's out there! I also have to remember that I have the ENTIRE summer to get things done for him and his little room- I know we will be ok, but I am not a "wait patiently" kind of person! I am ready NOW to get it done!  :)

Thanks for all the love and supporting words throughout the last several months. It truly means so MUCH to our family!

Now, I leave you with a picture of our little man's precious face.... He's laying on his back and his head is tilted directly at the "camera." I totally feel like he knew we were looking for him and turned to say hello! I love him so much already!!! :)

We are so thrilled and couldn't be happier to have a sweet baby boy!! This was SUCH an exciting and wonderful and fun day!!

Anthony and I went to the doctor Thursday morning. On the sheet that they give you they tell you to come in with a full bladder and give you all kinds of info about how this is a "medical" appointment and while it's also a "fun" appointment there are a lot of tests and measurements that they need to perform to make sure Baby is healthy.

We walk into the ultrasound room and the SWEET ultrasound lady asks us, "IF we can tell would you like to know the sex of your baby?" I responded with a quick YES- but then I explain that I would prefer NO April Fool's jokes! She laughed and said she hadn't even thought to do that. Phew! I'm laying there and we're looking at the screen and we see all kinds of neat things- kidneys, spine, heart (yes it has four chambers!), diaphragm, nose/lips/chin (no cleft palate!), little femurs... I could go on! I LOVED seeing EVERY inch of our sweet baby. I could have stared at that screen and watched him forever! Luckily, we were able to do just that for over 20 minutes- I was in heaven! Anthony on the other hand told the nurse that suspense was killing him and was ready to find out! :)

Then she pulls "it" up on the screen- unmistakeably a BOY!!!!! From that moment I literally could not stop crying! I didn't even respond when she told us- Anthony was SOOO excited and giddy and got up and was talking and laughing! I am laying on the table crying (tears of JOY JOY JOY) and he leans over and kisses me (a few times!). It was so so so fun and overwhelming and wonderful! I loved every second of it!!

We walk out and our FAVORITE nurse (who also happens to our WONDERFUL neighbor) greeted us first! Anthony showed her the pictures and she gave us both BIG hugs. Meanwhile I am still crying and my bladder is full- fun times :)

We go into the exam room and we are left alone to contemplate this HUGE news together! Of course, I start thinking of the broken bones, notes home from the teacher, little league games, scrapes and scratches- and seriously CANNOT wait! How fun is this going to be?! Anthony thinks about his little buddy to throw the football with, play catch, and shoot baskets with! We are in heaven!!!

Dr. McCloskey comes in and tells us the photos look perfect and HE is just perfectly and wonderfully healthy! She said HE is growing bigger than normal (shocker!) but she didn't want to change the due date YET. His heart rate was 144. Meanwhile, they take all of my vitals and things are looking WAY BETTER than the last appointment. My BP is finally down (112/62!) and no protein in my urine this time! Mom and baby are healthy healthy healthy (though a little big!) and everything is just beyond perfect!

Now the fun part began- telling our family and friends!!

The picture at the top is actually how we told my mom. Tex ALWAYS brings the people he loves a "present" when he first sees them. Usually a bone, but sometimes a favorite toy. It's his offering. Knowing this, we took him over to my parents' house and gave him that bone. On perfect cue he took it right over to my mom (he didn't want to give it up right away) and she saw the news- and automatically started crying! This was a LITTLE exciting for us because she already has four grandkids (three are grandsons) and was still so excited about OUR baby boy! Thanks Mom! :)

We walked into the house and she had set up a "girl" couch or a "boy" couch with all things and toys girl or boy. Too cute! We took a seat on the boy couch...
After more exciting replays of the morning, Anthony headed back to work and Mom and I took off for our FUN day! We went to lunch at La Madeline and then hit the shops! I wanted to find a CUTE shirt to announce that it was a boy! Stay tuned for those pictures (I don't have a picture of the one I found yet!). But we DID find a TON of precious stuff!!!

The little "sneakers" are in honor of Anthony- for his little sports buddy! And the next is one of my most FAVORITE finds EVER (I'm serious- I'm so obsessed with this!)... The best onesie yet....

Hysterical!!! They also had a PRECIOUS one for a girl- so if you're pregnant with a girl (not many of you are!) then get ready!!

We had so much fun and got a ton of hilarious reactions throughout the day! The best was my 8 year old nephew Jake who so badly wanted a girl so that she would play with his little sister Jill (this way Jill would stop playing with HIS toys and annoying HIM- good thinking!)... I went over to Jennifer's after school and had four blown up balloons- each one with a B-O-Y-!. Jake and Josh popped the balloons and unscrambled the letters. Josh yells "YESSSS!" and Jake goes, "Oh great! This is HORRIBLE!" hahahahahahaha Priceless. Poor thing's plan had failed! Once I explained to him that I needed someone to teach my baby boy about legos, nerf guns, and peeing on funny things he was convinced that this was indeed a GREAT thing! :)

Anthony and I went to dinner to celebrate our big news! We went to Pappa's Steakhouse- YUM! Here is a grainy and blurry picture of us in front of the restaurant with the "Prince Charming" onesie my mom bought!

We had SUCH a super fun and exciting day! Thanks to everyone for being patient- we really wanted to tell our immediate families first!

We both have prayed constantly about the blessings God has given us. We not only have a sweet baby boy on the way, but a healthy and perfect one at that. Mom is healthy and Dad has a great job- we are so abundantly blessed by God! What a perfect weekend to find out we're having a son- a weekend where so many around the world are celebrating the sacrifice from the Ultimate Son! Thank you, Lord!

PS- Name is coming soon! We have some GREAT ideas and can't wait to share! :)
